Fundamentals of Brake Service
Brake service should be performed according to the manufacturer-required maintenance schedule. This will help reduce premature wear and abnormal brake noise during brake application.
If brakes drag, pull, pulsate or produce abnormal noise, see your dealer immediately.
Braking systems, like many other automotive components, require regular inspection and maintenance to ensure proper operation. During regular maintenance inspections, you are required to:
Disc brakes
Remove wheels and check pads for wear or damage.
Verify proper movement of calliper piston and sliders.
Inspect callipers and brake lines for leaks or damage.
Drum brakes
Remove wheel and brake drum.
Check brake lining thickness.
Check smooth operation of wheel cylinders.
Inspect cylinder and brake lines for leaks or damage.
Adjust rear brakes as required.
